Wood Boat Show 2013 (this is a past event and not a current offering)

Display of fine hand crafted wood boats. Show off or sell your wood kayak, canoe, drift boat, dinghy, pram, race boat, run about? or Chris Craft at our Free Wooden Boat Show.

When: Sat. & Sun. 10:00am to 5:00pm
Weekend of the Top O’Michigan Races

Where: On the Grassy area* at BrassWind BoatWorks** at BrassWind Landing 6240 Mack Ave Near Christopher’s Cafe just off S. Straits Highway.

Who: Any wood boat owner can participate. See wood boats from Allen Deming of Mackinaw Watercraft, Richard Lincoln from BrassWind BoatWorks.

How: Trailer or Transport your boat here. Bring Saw horses or other way to display the boats if desired.? Some boats will be able to? be placed on the grass.

Free Event: No Entry Fee and No Selling fee.

Richard Lincoln, of BrassWind BoatWorks, is a wooden boat builder and is your host for this new event in Indian River, MI.? Richard apprenticed, for four years, with Tim Fox of C Fox Wood Boats in Kent City Michigan. Richard specializes in tape seam or stitch and glue construction of kayaks and skifs from Chesapeake Light Craft designs. More than 20,000 Chesapeake designed boats have been built and are in use around the world.?? The CLC boats are built by amateurs as well as professionals.? In 2014 we will be offering wood boat building classes for people who may not want to build their own boat but want to work on one and learn the technique.?? We are currently offer private boat building instruction with the purchase of a wood boat kit and the boat materials. It takes about 150 hours to build a wooden kayak like the Millcreek 13 pictured here.? The kit and instruction for this particular boat is $1600. You will build your boat with Lincoln and have a beautiful heirloom kayak to treasure and enjoy for years to come.

*Some overflow to parking lot or along ledgestone wall for larger boats that need to stay on trailers.
